How to Reset Canon Pixma MG4200 Series error Ink Absorber Almost Full

Before resetting, the printer must be in Service Mode.
Step 1 - Access Service Mode
Instructions for entering Service Mode:
  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Press and hold the STOP button
  3. Press and hold the ON button (DO NOT release either button)
  4. When the Power LED lights up in blue while holding the ON button, release the STOP button
  5. While still holding the ON button, press the STOP button 5 times (*1), then release the ON button.
(*1) To deactivate the scanner error detection and start the machine in Service Mode, press the STOP button 6 times. This allows Service Mode to be accessed without the scanner.
Note:
  • Each time the STOP button is pressed, the Alarm and Power LEDs will alternate between orange (Alarm) and blue (Power). The machine is ready for Service Mode operation when the Power LED lights up in blue.
  • If the Power LED does not light up in blue, the printer has failed to enter Service Mode. Please turn off the printer and repeat the Service Mode operation instructions.
STEP 2 - Reset Printer
6) To reset error Ink absorber almost full used Canon Service Tool v.3400 (free, no virus, support OS Windows, Linux, Macintosh)

  1. Download Service Tool v.3400
  2. Extract the file and open the Service Tool. If the Service Tool cannot be opened, disconnect the USB cable and then open the Service Tool. After opening the Service Tool, reconnect the USB cable.
  3. Load A4 or Letter paper.
  4. For reference during the servicing process, print the EEPROM information before resetting (step 1).
  5. To clear the ink counter, select ALL (step 2) and then click SET (step 3). The ink absorber counter will be reset, and the counter value will be printed automatically. By selecting "Clear Ink Counter - select ALL", all four ink absorber counters (Main_Black, Main_Color, Platen_Away, Platen_Home) will be reset.
  6. Select the region of destination from the options: ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EMB, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA (step 4) and then click SET (step 5).
  7. Print the EEPROM information once again after resetting (step 1).
  8. Compare the EEPROM information before and after the reset.
  9. If everything is successful, close the Service Tool.
  10. Turn off the printer and wait for 10 seconds.
  11. Turn on the printer and it will be ready to use.
