How to Reset Canon Pixma MG2200 Series error Ink Absorber Almost Full

Message on the LCD: The ink absorber is almost full. Select [OK] to continue printing. Contact the service center for replacement.

Service Call Error (by Cyclic Blinking of Alarm and Power LEDs)

Cycles of LED blinking: 7 times

Error [Error code]:

• Main (Color) [1704] or [5B05]

How to Reset Canon Pixma MG2200 Series error Ink Absorber Almost Full

Before resetting, the printer must be in Service Mode.

STEP 1 - Enter Service Mode

Service mode operation procedures:

1. Turn off a printer
2. Press and hold the STOP/RESET button
3. Press and hold the ON button (DO NOT release both buttons)
4. When the Plain Paper LED lights in green while holding the ON button, release the STOP/RESET button
5. While holding the ON button, press the STOP/RESET button 5 times (*1), and then release the ON button.

(*1) To disable the scanner error detection and start the machine in the service mode, press the STOP/RESET button 6 times. This way, the service mode is available without the scanner.

Note:

• Each time the STOP/RESET button is pressed, the Alarm and Plain Paper LEDs light alternately, Alarm in orange and Plain Paper in green. When the Plain Paper LED lights in green, the machine is ready for the service mode operation.
• If the Plain Paper LED lights NOT in green, the printer fails to enter Service Mode. Please, turn off the printer and then repeat Service mode operation procedures.

STEP 2 - Reset Printer

6) To reset error Ink absorber almost full used Canon Service Tool v.3400 (free, no virus, support OS Windows, Linux, Macintosh)

1. Download Service Tool v.3400
2. Extract file and open Service Tool. If Service Tool can't be open, unplug the USB cable and then open the Service Tool. After the open Service Tool, re-connect USB cable.
3. Load paper A4 or Letter
4. For your reference in servicing, click EEPROM information print before resetting (1)
5. Clear Ink Counter, select ALL (2) and then click SET (3). After the ink absorber counter is reset, the counter value is printed automatically. Clear Ink Counter - select ALL means: Resets ALL the four ink absorber counters (Main_Black, Main_Color, Platen_Away, Platen_Home).
6. Select the destination, Region: ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EMB, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA (4) and then Click SET (5)
7. Click EEPROM information print once again after resetting (1).
8. Compare EEPROM information before and after reset.
9. If all goes well, close Service Tool
10. Turn off the printer (wait for 10 seconds)
11. Turn on printer and printer ready to use
