Solution: Reset the printer

To reset the Canon Pixma MP250 or MP258 printer due to an error Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01], follow these steps:
Step 1: Enter Service Mode
- Turn off the printer
- Press and hold the STOP/RESET button and the ON button simultaneously
- Release the STOP/RESET button but keep holding the ON button
- Press the STOP/RESET button 2 times while holding the ON button, then release both buttons
- If the power LED lights up green and the 7-segment LED displays "0," the printer is in service mode
Step 2: Reset the error
- Download Service Tool v.1050
- Extract the file and open Service Tool, and plug in the USB cable if needed
- Load A4 or Letter paper
- Select the USB Port
- Print the EEPROM information before resetting (for reference)
- Click MAIN to clear the Ink Counter and wait for the printer to finish printing
- Select the destination region (ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA) and click SET
- Print the EEPROM information once again after resetting
- Compare the D value (Waste ink amount) before and after resetting
- If successful, close Service Tool
- Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds
- Turn on the printer and it should now be ready for use
