This solution use to:

Operator Call Errors (Alarm Lamp Lit In Orange)
  • Error is displayed on the LCD: Warning: The ink absorber becomes almost full.
  • Error code: [1700]
  • Message on the LCD: The ink absorber is almost full.
Service Call Errors
  • Cycles of Blinking of Alarm and Power LEDs: 7 times
  • Error: Ink absorber full
  • Error code: [5B00]
  • Conditions: The ink absorber is supposed to be full.
Solution: Reset the printer with Canon Service Tool
How to Reset Canon Pixma MX350, MX357, MX358 Error Ink Absorber Full [5B00]

Enter Service Mode:
  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Press and hold the STOP button
  3. While holding the STOP button, press and hold the ON button
  4. Release the STOP button, but do not release the ON button
  5. Press the STOP button 5 times while holding the ON button, then release both buttons together
Note: The STOP button will cause the LED light to alternate between orange and green, and the Power LED will turn green when the printer is ready for service mode. If the Power LED does not turn green, repeat the process.
Reset Printer using Canon Service Tool v.1074:
  1. Download Canon Service Tool v.1074
  2. and extract the service tool, which is free and supports Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems.
  3. Load A4 or Letter paper
  4. Connect the USB cable and open the service tool. If the service tool does not open, disconnect the USB cable and try again.
  5. Print the EEPROM information before resetting (1)
  6. Click "MAIN" to clear the ink counter (2) and wait for the printer to print D=000.0, indicating that the ink absorber counter has been reset to zero.
  7. Select the region (ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA) and click "SET" (3-4)
  8. Print the EEPROM information again and compare it to the information before resetting to verify the reset was successful.
  9. Close the service tool, turn off the printer (wait 10 seconds), then turn it back on. The printer is now ready to use.
