This solution use to:
  • Canon Pixma MX340,

Operator Call Errors (Alarm Lamp Lit In Orange)
  • Error is displayed on the LCD: Warning: The ink absorber becomes almost full.
  • Error code: [1700]
  • Message on the LCD: The ink absorber is almost full.
Service Call Errors
  • Cycles of Blinking of Alarm and Power LEDs: 7 times
  • Error: Ink absorber full
  • Error code: [5B00]
  • Conditions: The ink absorber is supposed to be full.
Solution: Reset the printer with Canon Service Tool
Resetting the Canon Pixma MX340, MX347, and MX348 Error Ink Absorber Full [5B00]
Before resetting, the printer must be placed in Service Mode.

STEP 1 - Entering Service Mode
Procedure for entering Service Mode:
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the STOP button.
  3. Press and hold the ON button while keeping the STOP button pressed.
  4. Release the STOP button while keeping the ON button pressed.
  5. While holding the ON button, press and release the STOP button 4 times, then press and hold the STOP button, then release both the ON and STOP buttons together.
Note:
When the Power LED lights up green, it means the printer is ready for the Service Mode operation, the LCD screen will turn black, and nothing will be displayed.
If the Power LED does not turn green, the printer has failed to enter Service Mode. In that case, turn off the printer and repeat the Service Mode procedure.
STEP 2 - Resetting the Printer
To reset the Error Ink Absorber Full [5B00], use the Canon Service Tool v.1074.
  1. Download the Canon Service Tool v.1074
  2. Extract the file and open the Service Tool. If the Service Tool cannot be opened, unplug the USB cable, open the Service Tool, and then reconnect the USB cable.
  3. Load A4 or Letter-sized paper
  4. For reference during the service process, click EEPROM information print before resetting (1)
  5. Clear the Ink Counter by clicking MAIN (2). Wait for the printer to finish printing D=000.0. D represents the Waste ink amount. D=000.0 means "The ink absorber counter has been reset to zero".
  6. Select the destination, Region: ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA (3) and then click SET (4)
  7. Click EEPROM information print once again after resetting (1).
  8. Compare the EEPROM information before and after the reset, and check the value of D (Waste ink amount).
  9. If everything goes smoothly, close the Service Tool.
  10. Turn off the printer (wait 10 seconds)
  11. Turn on the printer, and it should be ready for use.
