How to Fix Canon Pixma MP610 error Ink Absorber Full [5B00, 5B01]

Error:
The ink absorber is supposed to be full.

Message on the LCD:
Ink absorber full. Service required.

Error codes:
5B00: Main ink absorber is full (overseas) or
5B01: Main ink absorber is full (Japan).

STEP 1 - Enter Service Mode

Preparation:

Connect USB cable, connect the Power cable, and the machine power turned off.

1)    Press and hold the Stop/Reset button
2)    Press and hold the ON/OFF button (do not release both buttons.)
3)    Release the Stop/Reset button (do not release the ON/OFF button.)
4)    While holding the ON/OFF button, press Stop/Reset button 2 times, and release the ON/OFF and Stop/Reset buttons together.

About point 4): While holding the ON/OFF button, press and release the Stop/Reset button 1 time, then press and hold the Stop/Reset button 1 time, then release the ON/OFF and Stop/Reset buttons together.

Note:
When the LED stops blinking and light green, it means the printer is in Service Mode. BUT, if the LED continues to blinking and lights orange, that means the printer is not in Service Mode. Repeat the procedure to enter Service Mode.


STEP 2 - Reset the Printer


5)    Press the Stop/Reset button according to the list below

6)    Load paper first then press the Stop/Reset button 4 times and press the ON/OFF button to execute. Please wait for the printer automatically printed "D=000.0" is printed at the top left of the paper. When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically (returns to Table 1).

STEP 3 - Set the Destination

7)    Press Stop/Reset button 5 times then press the ON/OFF button to execute (enter the Destination settings mode - Table 1).

8)  Press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the table below. After the function is selected, press the ON/OFF button to execute. When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically (returns to Table 1).

Example:
  • To destination Japan. Press the Stop/Reset button 1 times then press the ON/OFF button to execute. When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically (returns to Table 1).
  • To destination Asia. Press the Stop/Reset button 6 times then press the ON/OFF button to execute. When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically (returns to Table 1).

STEP 4 - EEPROM Initialization

Important:
After setting the destination to be sure to initialize the EEPROM. The destination setting may not be valid unless the EEPROM is initialized after destination settings.


9)    Press the Stop/Reset button 3 times then press the ON/OFF button to EEPROM Initialization (Table 1). When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically (returns to Table 1).

STEP 5 - EEPROM Information Print

Note
To make sure all goes well do the EEPROM information print.

10)  Load paper first then press the Stop/Reset button 2 times and press the ONN/OFF button to execute (look at Table 1).


11)  If all goes well, turn off the printer. Press the ON/OFF button to TURN OFF the printer, wait for 10 seconds, and then turn it on again. Finish.
