Solution: Reset the printer

To reset the Canon Pixma MP480 or MP486 when encountering an error message "Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01]", follow these steps:

Enter Service Mode:
  1. Turn off the printer
  2. Press and hold the STOP/RESET button
  3. While holding the STOP/RESET button, press and hold the ON button
  4. Release the STOP/RESET button, but continue holding the ON button
  5. Press and release the STOP/RESET button twice, then release both buttons
  6. The printer should now be in Service Mode if the Power LED is green and the display reads "Service Mode Idle".
Reset the error:
  1. Download and extract the Service Tool v.1020 software
  2. Connect the printer to the computer via USB cable
  3. Open the Service Tool, loading A4 or Letter paper
  4. Select the USB port and select EEPROM information print before resetting
  5. Click "MAIN" to clear the ink counter, then select the region and click "SET"
  6. Select EEPROM information print once again after resetting, and compare the values before and after reset
  7. Close the Service Tool and turn off the printer, waiting for 10 seconds
  8. Turn on the printer, which should now be ready for use.
