How to Fix Canon Pixma MP230, MP235, MP236, MP237 error Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01]
Operator Call Errors
- Error: The ink absorber becomes almost full.
- Error code: Japan: [1700], Others: [1701]
- Alarm light flashing: 8 times
Service Call Errors
- Cycles of blinking in orange and green: 7 times
- Error: Waste ink absorber full
- Error code: Japan: [5B00], Others: [5B01]
- Conditions: The waste ink absorber becomes full.
Solution: Reset the printer
To reset the Canon Pixma MP230, MP235, MP236, MP237 printer when encountering an error with the Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01], follow these steps:
Step 1: Enter Service Mode
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the STOP/RESET button.
- Press and hold the ON button, and do not release either button.
- Release the STOP/RESET button, but keep holding the ON button.
- While holding the ON button, press and release the STOP/RESET button four times, then press and hold the STOP/RESET button and release both buttons together.
Note: When the Power LED lights up in green, it indicates that the printer has entered the Service Mode. If the Power LED does not turn green, repeat the steps.
Step 2: Reset Error Ink Absorber Full [5B00] [5B01]
- Download the Canon Service Tool v.3400.
- Extract the file and open the Service Tool. If it cannot be opened, unplug the USB cable, open the Service Tool, and then reconnect the USB cable.
- Load paper of size A4 or Letter.
- For reference purposes, click the EEPROM information print button before resetting.
- Select MAIN (2) and click SET (3) to clear the Ink Counter. The counter value will be automatically printed after being reset.
- Choose the destination region (4) from ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EMB, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, or USA, and then click SET (5).
- Click the EEPROM information print button again after resetting.
- Compare the EEPROM information before and after resetting.
- If the process was successful, close the Service Tool.
- Turn off the printer, wait for 10 seconds, then turn it back on and it should be ready for use.
