- Checkpoints & Solution: Ink absorber condition: Replace the ink absorber, and reset the ink absorber counter value in the EEPROM.
Solution: Reset the printer
To reset the Canon Pixma MG8100, MG8110, MG8120, MG8130, MG8140, MG8150, MG8160, MG8170, MG8180, and MG8190 printers with the "Ink Absorber Full" error [5B00] [5B01], the printer must be in Service Mode.
Here are the steps to enter Service Mode:
- Turn off the printer
- Press and hold the STOP button
- Press and hold the ON button (do not release both buttons)
- Release the STOP button (do not release the ON button)
- While holding the ON button, press the STOP button 4 times and then release both buttons together.
Note: To disable scanner error detection and start the printer in service mode, press the STOP button 6 times. The power LED light indicates that the printer is ready for Service Mode operation.
To reset the error, you can use the Canon Service Tool v.1081, Canon Service Tool v.2000, or Canon Service Tool v.1074. In this article, we will discuss how to reset the Canon Pixma MG8100 series using the Canon Service Tool v.2000.
Here are the steps to reset the Canon Pixma MG8100 series using Canon Service Tool v.2000:
- Download the Canon Service Tool v.2000
- Extract the file and open the Service Tool. If the Service Tool does not open, unplug the USB cable, open the Service Tool, and then reconnect the USB cable.
- Load A4 or Letter paper
- Print the EEPROM (1) information for reference before resetting. Wait for the printer to finish printing.
- Clear the Ink Counter and select the MAIN (2) for the main ink absorber counter reset. The counter value will be printed automatically after the reset. Wait for the printer to finish printing.
- Set the Destination, select your region (3) (ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EMB, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA), and then click SET (4).
- Print the EEPROM (1) information again after resetting. Wait for the printer to finish printing.
- Compare the EEPROM information before and after resetting, and check the value of D (Waste ink amount).
- If everything goes well, close the Service Tool.
- Turn off the printer (wait 10 seconds)
- Turn on the printer and it will be ready to use. Finish.
